Ep 66: Client Spotlight | Belinda Shares Her Fear of Weight Regain, Grazing and Feeling Guilty at Nearly 2 Years Post WLS

This post is a companion to Episode 66 of the Bariatric Nutrition Coach Podcast. Listen to the full episode on Spotify or Apple Podcasts.

In this episode I was joined by the lovely Belinda — who had her surgery on Valentine's Day and calls it the best gift she has ever received. Two years on, she reached out to me when things started to feel scary and out of control. Her honesty in this conversation is a gift to everyone listening.

The Early Days

Belinda described going into surgery with a lifetime of yo-yo dieting behind her — and an absolute conviction that it would not work for her. When the weight did start coming off, she was genuinely stunned. The euphoria of early weight loss was real and wonderful. But at around two years, things shifted — as they do for so many people — and old habits started creeping back in.

Fear, Grazing and Guilt

By the time Belinda reached out to me, she was struggling with grazing, feeling guilty after eating, and a growing fear of weight regain. She describes feeling lost and not at all in control. She had some information from her surgical team, but it was not enough to navigate what she was experiencing at two years post-op.

What she found when we worked together was not judgment — it was listening, practical guidance, and a non-diet approach that helped her get back to regular meals, planned snacks, and increased fluid and movement. She even describes increasing her exercise as "a miracle." Her words, not mine.

What She Would Tell Others

It is not a straight line. At two years, things change — and that is normal. If you are feeling lost or out of control, please reach out rather than trying to push through alone. And know that the support is there to help you get back on track without shame, without restriction, and with real, lasting results.
